About Humans Being Resources
A direct-hire recruiting firm built from both sides of the hiring table
Our owners came from opposite ends of the same problem: one side ran recruiting firms, the other sat across the table deciding whether to hire one. HBR is what came out of arguing about it for long enough.
Our story
Built from
both sides
of the table
HBR came out of a long-running argument. One side of it had run recruiting firms. The other had been the business owner and hiring manager deciding whether to engage one at all.
Those conversations kept landing on the same question: what actually makes a hiring manager call a recruiting firm in the first place, and what makes them walk away. Working through the objections, the pricing complaints and the process friction from both directions is how the My1Hire packages took their shape.
What came out of it is an engagement built to take the search off your desk. After an intake call and a handful of forms, HBR carries the sourcing, the process and the presentation, and you keep running the business.
We recruit in financial services, accounting and tax, and insurance every day. That is the whole list. To a hiring manager, a firm that knows three industries cold is worth more than one that will take any search that walks in.
The difference
You choose
the process

How far to take the process is usually the recruiter’s decision. At HBR it is yours. You choose which steps someone completes before they are considered for your role, and only the candidates who finish them are sent to you.
Every placement then carries a candidate guarantee of 30, 60 or 90 days, set by how far that process went. The more we were asked to find out about someone, the longer we stand behind the placement. See how the candidate process works.
What it costs
A flat fee
you know
up front
The typical recruiting firm charges a placement fee worth 20 to 30 percent of a new hire’s first-year compensation. Staffing agencies get there by another route, marking up the worker’s hourly rate for as long as the contract runs.
My1Hire packages are flat-fee and task-based, priced by how much of the process you asked for. On an $80,000 hire, a percentage fee runs $16,000 to $24,000. Every My1Hire package costs less than $9,000, and you know that number before the search starts rather than after the offer is signed.

How HBR is different
A specialized field
Why recruiting in financial services, accounting and tax, and insurance every single day gives our clients an advantage over a generalist firm.
You choose the process
Our clients control which steps a candidate completes before being considered for their position. That is the part most firms do not offer.
The fee structure
How a task-based, flat-fee approach to billing differs from the percentage model, and why it is easier to budget against.
Partner with us
Let’s partner
together
We refer work out as often as we take it in. When a client needs something that is not recruiting, we point them to someone we trust. We are always looking to add to that list: strategic partners who serve the same practices we do, networks and firms who want a recruiting option to put in front of their own members, and coaches who work with advisors and their teams.
