What Duane does here
On the business side
Throughout his career, Duane has been the go-to resource for HR, staffing, and hiring, managing recruitment and hiring processes not only for his own departments, but across entire organizations. He has led teams of 50+ employees while navigating the realities every business leader faces: finding the right people, identifying the right fit, managing performance, and keeping the business profitable.
That experience is what makes Duane such a valuable part of the HBR team.
While he may work primarily behind the scenes, Duane is often the person clients will meet on their discovery call, and for good reason. He has a knack for asking the questions that uncover what a business really needs. He’ll dig deeper than the job description, challenge assumptions, and help clients define the role, responsibilities, and type of person that will truly move their business forward.
As HBR’s numbers and strategy guy, Duane also brings a practical, analytical mindset to every decision. He’s the one asking, “Does this make sense for the business?” and making sure great ideas also make good business sense.
In short, Duane doesn’t just look at who you need to hire, he looks at why you need them, what success looks like, and how the right hire can impact your business.
Away from the desk
The rest
of it
Outside of HBR, Duane is all about family. You’ll find him enjoying weekly date nights with his wife, Stephanie, coaching baseball, cheering on his son from the sidelines, and traveling whenever possible. He’s also a passionate MLB fan with a special loyalty to the New York Mets and enjoys visiting stadiums around the country.
And when he’s not talking business or baseball, you might find him behind a drum kit playing live music or grabbing a microphone and singing.
He really does do it all, and at HBR, that same energy, experience, and perspective goes into helping our clients build teams that work.
