FAQ
Questions hiring managers and candidates actually ask us
How the process works, how long a search takes, what the candidate guarantee covers, and what the fee includes. Candidates, your questions are answered further down the page.

on every call
Are you a staffing agency?
No. We are a direct-hire recruiting firm. Every placement is a permanent employee of yours, hired directly by you. We do not place temporary workers, contract workers or contract-to-hire, and we do not mark up anyone’s hourly rate.
How is the fee calculated?
Each My1Hire package is a flat, published price: $5,990 for Basic, $6,990 for Standard, $8,990 for Elite. The fee does not move with the salary, so the same package costs the same whether the role pays $55,000 or $150,000. A percentage-based fee on an $80,000 hire typically runs $16,000 to $24,000.
Why is half due before I have met anyone?
Because most of the work happens before a candidate reaches you. The compensation range has been set against your market, the ad written and placed, our database worked, passive candidates approached directly, and everyone presented has completed the process steps you chose. That cost is spent whether you hire the first person we send or the fourth. The full breakdown is on the fee page.
What does the candidate guarantee actually cover?
The guarantee runs 30, 60 or 90 days from the placement depending on your package, and it covers the person we placed. It is not a guarantee that a role will be filled. Those are two different promises and we will not blur them. What each package covers is set out on the guarantee page.
How long does a search take?
Each package is active for 120 days from the day you approve the job posting, which is the window we work within. Actual time to a short list depends on the role, the market and how tightly you have defined the must-haves. We will give you a realistic read on the intake call rather than a number designed to win the business.
How much of my time does this take?
An intake call and a few forms at the start, then interviews at the end. We carry the sourcing, the process and the presentation in between. The point of choosing how far the process goes up front is that you spend your hours on finalists rather than on filtering.
Which package do I need?
Broadly: if you already run your own personality profiles, surveys or assessments, Basic. If you do not have those tools and want personality and integrity matched to the role, Standard. If you want as much candidate information as possible before a file reaches you, Elite. Ask us on the intake call and you will get a straight answer, including when the answer is the cheapest package. The three are set side by side on the comparison page.
Do you recruit outside financial services, accounting and insurance?
No, and that is deliberate. Working three industries every day is what lets us tell you what a paraplanner is worth in your city this year and which licenses a role genuinely needs. A firm that takes every search cannot do that.
Where do you place?
All 50 states. We are a national firm and the search is run the same way wherever the opening is.

ask us
Does it cost anything to work with HBR as a candidate?
No. There is no cost for candidates to work with Humans Being Resources. Our recruiting services are paid for by the companies we partner with.
What should I expect when working with a recruiter at HBR?
Think of your HBR recruiter as a connection between you and the hiring company. We’ll take the time to learn more about your experience, qualifications, career goals, and what you’re looking for from your next opportunity.
If there’s a potential fit, we’ll guide you through the next steps requested from the hiring company, help coordinate communications and interviews, and keep you informed throughout the process. While the hiring company makes the advancement and eventual hiring decisions, our team is here to support you and help make the process as smooth as possible.
What happens after I submit my resume?
If you submitted your resume for a specific position, our team will review your information in relation to that opportunity. If your experience, qualifications, and career goals align with what the client is looking for, a member of the HBR team may reach out to discuss the opportunity and next steps.
If you submitted your resume without applying for a specific position, our team will review your experience, qualifications, and career goals to see if there are any current opportunities that may be a good fit.
Will my current employer know that I’ve applied for another position?
No. We understand that your job search may be confidential. HBR will not contact or notify your current or previous employers. Your information and job search will be handled with discretion throughout the recruiting process.
How long does the hiring process typically take?
Every company and opportunity is different, so hiring timelines can vary. However, typical process and hiring timelines when working with HBR and its clients tend to be a little longer than most. HBR clients are focused on conducting a quality information gathering and interviewing process, which results in long-term placements. As we move through a client’s requested process, you have our commitment that the HBR team will always keep you informed and share updates as they become available.
Will HBR keep my resume on file for future opportunities?
Yes, with your permission. If you aren’t selected for a particular position, or we don’t have the right opportunity available right now, we may keep your resume on file for future roles that could be a good fit. And when a potential match comes available, we will be sure to reach out and share details for you to review. We also encourage you to stay connected and keep us updated if your experience, availability, or career goals change.
Are you a temp agency?
No. We are a direct-hire recruiting firm. From day one you are an employee of the hiring firm, not of HBR.
What industries do you specialize in?
Financial services, accounting and tax, and insurance. More on each of the three.
Can you negotiate salary or other compensation on my behalf?
No. All negotiations are between you and the potential employer.
Will I know the name of the hiring company before you submit my information?
No. We keep a client firm’s information confidential until they are ready to move forward with an interview.

Ask us the awkward one
One intake call, no obligation. If we are not the right firm for the role, we would rather tell you than take the search.
