The Johnson County corridor, Overland Park, Leawood, Lenexa and Olathe, carries a dense concentration of independent advisory practices. Most are small enough that one bad hire is felt immediately, and most are hiring against the same short list of experienced client service people.
Kansas City is one labor market and two states. A candidate in Overland Park and a candidate on the Missouri side are competing for the same roles, but licensing, payroll and commute expectations do not line up neatly, and pay bands are not identical either side of the line. Humans Being Resources was founded in the Kansas City metro in January 2016, and the Johnson County corridor was part of the home market from the beginning. Overland Park, Leawood, Lenexa and Olathe were not new territory when we built a Kansas page. They were the practices down the road.
The operation has since moved to Florida and the firm recruits in all 50 states. Kansas stayed on the list because these are the practices we knew first.

When a market is this concentrated, posting an ad mostly reaches the people every other firm has already seen. The candidates worth hiring are usually employed, not looking, and will only take a call from someone who knows the practice they would be joining.
